FAQs

What should I wear?

Please arrive in comfortable clothing that will allow you to move and stretch in all directions. Be advised that you may be required to open your legs and go upside down! In other words, wear something that will cling to your body while allowing for free flowing movement. We do not wear shoes in Pilates so be prepared to have either bare, clean feet or grip socks which are available for purchase at the studio. Please avoid wearing lotions and perfumes.

How often should I do Pilates?

Pilates is beneficial in any dose; however, to reap the most benefits, we recommend 2-3 sessions a week. Pilates is a work in progress. There is always room for improvement which ultimately comes from a sound, continual practice. Exercises continue to progress in level as you dedicate more time and focus. As with everything, practice makes perfect!

How many privates should I take before joining class?

We request an introductory private to assess each client prior to jumping into a class setting. This gives us the opportunity to be sure each client is aware of the basics for safety, along with guiding you to the appropriate levels and types of classes. Some individuals need more time to learn any modifications and become familiar with the equipment, alignment, and over all knowledge of Pilates to ensure you get the most out of your sessions. This is all done to help you stay safe and maintain the flow of class. For those who demonstrate proficiency and/or have prior Pilates experience they typically move in to the class setting faster. It is truly a case by case basis. Introductory private(s) may vary anywhere from one to multiple sessions.  Classes can be particularly progressive and challenging without the proper preparation. Make sure to choose a class designated as beginner or mixed level when you are first starting. If you need help choosing, please allow one of our staff to guide you to an appropriate class.

Is Pilates safe during pregnancy?

Most definitely! We advise you start your Pilates exercise regime prior to becoming pregnant; however, we welcome new pregnant clients with the accompaniment of a doctors release. Pilates is an excellent choice of exercise for Mommy’s to be.

What is your cancellation policy?

We adhere to a strict 24 hour cancellation policy.

Can I safely participate in a Pilates program if I have injuries?

Absolutley! Pilates is particularly beneficial to those living with both acute and chronic injuries. We advise you begin with Private instruction to better learn how to modify for your injury prior to entering a group setting. Please inform your Pilates professional of your injuries prior to starting your instruction.
